High Court of Judicature for Rajasthan

Rajasthan High Court cause list: Jodhpur and Jaipur, separately

Two sittings, 340 kilometres apart, and two separate lists. The distance is the reason reading the wrong one is expensive here.

In short

The Rajasthan High Court cause list is the order of business for a hearing day, published on the evening before it. The court has its principal seat at Jodhpur and a bench at Jaipur, and each publishes its own list — so the first question is always which of the two your matter is on.

The lead idea

Principal seat and bench

The Rajasthan High Court has its principal seat at Jodhpur and a bench at Jaipur. Both are full sittings of the same court, and each runs its own cause list.

The two cities are roughly 340 kilometres apart. That is the fact that makes this more than an administrative footnote: reading the Jaipur list when your matter is at Jodhpur is not a minor inconvenience, it is most of a day and a night's travel.

Searching by CNR removes the question. The CNR is unique to the matter and does not depend on which sitting is hearing it, so you find the matter rather than choosing a list first and hoping.

When it publishes

Daily, advance, supplementary

The list for a hearing day is published on the evening before, at no fixed clock time. An advance list gives earlier notice of what is expected; a supplementary list carries items added after the daily list went out, sometimes on the hearing morning itself.

For a practice that has to decide the night before whether to travel, that last category is the dangerous one. An alert on a saved matter covers it; checking once in the evening does not.

Searching a list

Names are approximate, numbers are not

Party and advocate names are typed by hand and spellings vary. A case number is exact; a CNR is exact and permanent, surviving changes to the case number or year of registration.

See advocate-wise cause lists for everything listed against your own name across both sittings in one view, and the limitation calculator for the dates that follow from a hearing.

Questions

Rajasthan cause list, answered

Yes. The principal seat at Jodhpur and the bench at Jaipur each publish their own list. A matter appears on one of them, not both, which is why searching by CNR is more reliable than choosing a list first.

On the evening before the hearing day, at no fixed clock time, with supplementary items sometimes following later that night or on the hearing morning.

Jodhpur. Jaipur is a bench of the same court. Both are full sittings and both publish their own lists.

By case number or CNR where you have one, since both are exact. Party and advocate name search is available but approximate, because names are hand-typed and spellings vary.
